QVS. Value a music catalogue in minutes

A tool that calculates a well-founded offer per track from a catalogue's royalty file, for Q Music Co.

Q Music Co helps artists and labels with distribution, marketing and funding. To offer an artist an advance, you need to know quickly what a music catalogue is worth. That was manual work, spread across Excel files and systems.

Built forQ Music Co
The QVS overview of a demo catalogue with a fictional artist: four totals at the top, and below them a chart of monthly earnings over 24 months.

Before and after

Before

Before

  • “Making an offer takes hours and several systems.”
  • “I have to update and sync Excel files with different names and data.”
  • “Valuing by a fixed calculation model is almost impossible by hand.”
After

Now

  • An offer is ready in minutes.
  • The system recognises each track's pattern and forecasts its earnings.
  • Deep insight into every catalogue: per track, per month and per country.

What it looks like

List of 12 tracks by a fictional artist, ranked by contribution. Each track has a label such as growing, stable, viral, declining or dormant, next to its earnings over the last 12 months.
01Every track with its own label: growing, steady, viral or declining. This shows you where the value sits. Demo data.
Line chart of a fictional artist's monthly earnings over 24 months: a high peak in mid 2024, a smaller one in early 2025 and then a calm, flat stretch.
02The earnings month by month over two years. This shows at a glance whether a catalogue is growing or fading. Demo data.

How it works

  1. You load the royalty file

You pick the file with the catalogue's earnings per track. It can be huge.

  2. The tool picks it apart

The tool adds up the earnings per track and per month and draws the trend. Every track gets a label, such as growing or declining.

  3. You get an offer per track

Within minutes there is a well-founded offer per track. You take that into the negotiation.

What this proves

Your slowest expert task is often the best first candidate.

Think of an installer who needs weeks for one big quote, or a yacht builder who works out every cost price by hand. The work keeps coming back and only one expert gets it. At QVS that was valuing a catalogue: from hours to minutes.

Next case

Do you have a task that takes weeks because only one person understands it?

Tell us which work costs you weeks. Then we will look together at whether it can take minutes.
